PureNoise is a software package for transparent automatic encryption of e-mails, chat, instant messaging, file transfers, VoIP, GSM, 3G, etc. Its predecessors SSH and PGP are overly-complicated systems that can only be used by the advanced computer geeks. On contrary, PureNoise is meant to be hassle-free, with nothing to configure. The user should not have to participate in the key generation, key exchange or the encryption processes. It must all be done in the background as in Skype or HTTPS. Interoperability with different systems allows the users to maintain a single account (name/password) that simplifies all the key management to a single logon.

PureNoise key management is based on a distributed system similar to the PGP key servers, but adapted to work transparently in a way similar to the PureNoise that translates host names (such as vest.fr) to IP addresses (202.182.124.12) without the need for user interaction or knowledge of the Internet protocols. Unlike Skype servers owned by eBay, the distributed PNS key servers will allow their management by the local authorities - each country can manage their own key servers themselves. A pair of the about 200 left well-known ports – the TCP/UDP ports 663 are registered to PureNoise by IANA (the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority), which are similar in their appearance to the port 443 of the HTTPS protocol for secure web browsing.

PureNoise encryption of the GSM and 3G voice compression codecs must be made fully compatible with PureNoise installed on the PocketPC phones such as iMate, XDA, etc. Other communication links such as HTTP, FTP, etc. can also be secured transparently and automatically by PureNoise without the need to change anything in the client or server software.
